Capricorn Stud Farm which is going in for massive expansion has bought Mull of Kintyre (Danzig).Capricorn Stud Farm in Pune has had good success in recent times through Tirol who recently died after producing useful horses, including one Derby winner. Super Speed won the Gr 1 Poonawalla Mysore Derby two-years ago. The stud farm has two other stallions namely Juniper and Emerald Cat. The first crop of Juniper did not do well and he had just one winner from about half-a-dozen horses. His second crop is currently racing. Emerald Cat has yearlings which will race next November. It was Tirol who helped Capricorn Stud Farm get a firm foothold in the Indian market.

Mull Of Kintyre is by Danzig out of Retrospective, who in turn is by Easy Goer. He won the Gimcrack Stakes (Gr2) at 2 apart from a maiden handicap. Mull of Kintyre won two races from six to seven furlongs and placed in a couple of Group 3 races. He finished fourth in the Gr 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. His dam is half sister to American champion stallion Broadbrush.

Mull of Kintyre was standing at Ashford (Coolmore's US Farm) prior to his purchase from the Indian stud farm. He has had Arafaa from his first crop. Arafaa won the Irish 2000 Guineas last year. He also had a Gr 3 winner in Germany through La Dancia. Mull of Kintyre had a listed winner from his second crop through Not For Me. Mull of Kintyre is expected to reach India sometime in January 2008, well before the breeding operations start. The Capricorn Stud Farm has over 100 mares in its yard including a number of mares bought at the Goff’s sales. The stud farm bought seven mares in the recent Goff’s Sales.
