Adriatic SeaPassing the 800 metres ADRIATIC SEA (B Mahesh) travelling along the rails and ZURVAN (Mohit Singh) travelling on its outside had to be checked by their respective riders and loose some ground when QUEEN’S KITTEN (A Ashhad Asbar) positioned on their outside shifted ‘in’. In this incident the saddle of ADRIATIC SEA shifted out of place resulting in Jockey B Mahesh being unable to ride his mount to complete advantage . At a subsequent enquiry Jockey A Ashhad Asbar was shown the CCTV replay of the race and was fined a sum of Rs. 5,000/ for shifting ground when not adequately clear of the other runners.
Top GunTOP GUN (C Alford) and GRAND FOREST (Vinay Jaiswal) were slow to begin. When afforded an opportunity to explain the poor performance of his charge ch g TOP GUN (C Alford), Tr. Bharath Singh stated that the gelding had a wind problem resulting in the gelding’s performance being inconsistent. On questioning Jockey C Alford stated that he was well positioned with the field in the initial and middle stages of the race, however, on entering the straight the gelding started dropping back gradually in spite of his best efforts. Consequently he did not put any pressure on the gelding during the final stages. Mr. C Alford further stated that he would not be accepting to ride the gelding in its future outings. Tr. Bharath Singh was advised to get his charge examined by the Veterinary Officer and not to accept with his charge until it was capable of a consistent performance.

Tough EnoughThe Veterinary Officer reported that TOUGH ENOUGH and QUEEN’S COMMAND returned bleeding from both nostrils. Trs. Javed Khan and Rutherford Alford were informed not to accept with their respective charges until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.
Diamond CreekDIAMOND CREEK (Md Islam) which was fractious in its stall was slow to begin. When afforded an opportunity to explain the poor performance of his charge b f DIAMOND CREEK as compared to its previous run in Race No. 74 of the just concluded Calcutta Monsoon Meeting held on 6 th September, 2017, Tr. Bharath Singh stated that in its last outing the filly had run in the lower class and that the filly was not a very sound animal as it had suffered from tendon problems for which it had been treated on a number of occasions. On questioning Jockey Md. Islam stated that he was well positioned in the early stages of the race, however, in spite of his urgings the filly did not respond and finished off the race last. The Stipendiary Stewards while noting the explanations tendered by Mr. Bharath Singh advised him to ensure that horses under his care run consistently failing which he would be taken to task for the ‘in’ and ‘out’ running of his charges.

3 (11) THE ASPIRANT HANDICAP

The Veterinary Officer reported that VICTORIANA returned bleeding from right nostril and with a cut injury on right hind. Tr. Vijay Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.
