Ganapathy trained Bold Majesty who was the best performed horse in the fray in the Gr 3 Deccan Bookmakers Colts Championship, the second classic of the season, ran true to expectations to post a comfortable win over local challenger Silver Phantom. Usha Stud Farm`s champion sire Multidimensional who ruled the Indian racing scene through his first crop last year thus sired both the winners of Fillies and Colts Championships to swell his classic tally.

Bold Majesty should have gone into the race as an overwhelming favourite but since trainer Ganapathy has had a lean patch; he went to the post at nourishing odds, with Silver Phantom also cornering lot of support in the betting ring. Veloz hit the front as the field set out for the mile long trip with Your Royal Majesty handily placed in second position ahead of Silver Phantom who raced in about the fourth or fifth position along the rails. Bold Majesty was settled in the penultimate position.

Your Royal Majesty had the first run on his opponents as the field straightened for the stretch run. Silver Phantom got a good run along the rails to come into contention while Bold Majesty got into his rhythm on the wide outside. Inside the final furlong, Silver Phantom had got past Your Royal Majesty but could not breathe easy as Bold Majesty essayed a strong challenge. The two fought for a while before the Bangalore challenger got stronger close home and won with measure of comfort. There was a cluster finish for the third slot with Your Royal Majesty just about retaining it ahead of Carlton. The winner clocked a fair time of one minute 39.78 seconds.

Vittal Deshmukh trained Decathlon was bidding for a hat-trick and as such was well backed to win the 1400 metres Asaf Jah VII Memorial Cup, a Category I race. However, the favourite disappointed as Palm Springs struck the form of old to win with surprising ease at fancy odds. Palm Springs who was running without blinkers, showed great speed from the gates and led from the start. In the straight, the four year old filly showed no signs of weakening and skipped away which left Decathlon flat footed. Despite drifting out of a straight course, Palm Springs was good enough to spare more than three lengths to Decathlon. Brahmani ran on to finish third.

Favourite Jerrell shot through along the rails inside the final 100 metres and got the better of Graceland to record an easy win in the 1400 metres Dynamic Dancer Cup, a Category III race. Jerrell surely profited from the good forward run he had where he had finished second to Golden Phantom.

Anupam Sharma`s Roma Royal was backed strongly to win the 1000 metres Classic Style Cup, a race for three year olds. The favourite carried the top weight to an easy win, taking control of the proceedings from the word `go` and expanding the lead in the straight to win without being extended. Red Express pipped Romantic Fire for the runner up berth.

Shezad Abbas trained Cornwallis recorded his third straight win in the 1600 metres Heritage Cup, a Category II race. Cornwallis slipped into the lead along the rails and took over the running inside the final two furlongs and established a lead which turning out be the winning one. Sensei was struggling in about the fifth position and went wide under pressure but in the final furlong, found his rhythm and came home with a rush only to find the front runner reach the safety of the winning post. Kohinoor Thunder who did all the pace making till turning for home stayed on to finish third.

Happy Guy justified the favouritism in the 1800 metres Fire Haven Plate, a Category II race for three year olds. After being held back in the penultimate position as Vijay Sakhi set a fast pace, Happy Guy got strong in the homestretch and shook off Vista to record a facile win.
