Capri overwhelms opposition in HRC Trophy

By: Stay Thirsty   July 2 , 2015

Sajid Quereshi trained Capri overwhelmed the opposition in the 1200 metres H R C Trophy, a race for horses rated 60 and above, the feature event of Thursday`s Mysore races. The lesser fancied runner came through with a powerful run down the final furlong to get the measure of favourite Divine Love and won with ease.

Vijays Best who had run an eye-catching third in last outing was the favourite to win especially since the horse had the services of jockey Srinath in the saddle. Last outing facile winner Divine Love was another who caught the imagination of the punters while Capri was eased at nourishing odds. Bandito had relatively less supporters despite his impressive last start win. Majestic Opinion led the field into the straight before being eased from that position by Divine Love who then stormed ahead. However, she looked vulnerable when Capri moved from about the fifth position with raking strides and gradually asserted her supremacy. The six year old mare then went on to win comfortably from Bandito who came from way off the pace to grab the second spot ahead of late rallying Miss International. Divine Love weakened to finish fourth. Vijays Best was not spotted.

Vishal Yadav trained Ruthba was too superior for the opposition when recording her second straight win in the 1400 metres Kemmangundi Plate, a race for horses rated 40 to 65. Held back in about the fourth position as Skyjet attempted runaway tactics, Ruthba steadily moved places in the straight and before long had established a distance lead over the rest. Sancy was faraway second ahead of Hallelujah.

Somashekar trained Badshah recorded a smashing win at nourishing odds in the 1200 metres Doddaballapura Plate, a race for horses in the lowest category. Badshah was sluggish at the start but that did not deter the five year old from asserting his supremacy. By the time the field reached the final furlong, Badshah had already covered the leeway and was ready to storm ahead. Badshah went away for an effortless win by over three lengths. Ceasaria and Sharp Girl who were battling for supremacy till displaced by the eventual winner, finished second and third respectively.

Srinath drove out Dark William to an easy win in the 1200 metres Bugle Rock Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 45. Winning Desire led in the early part of the race before being displaced from that position by Teri Adah who brought the field into view with the advantage of a few lengths lead. Dark William who was in hot pursuit quickly established his ascendancy and was hailed a winner long way from home. Born For Beauty made a late dash to finish second ahead of Teri Adah.

Vishal Yadav had a double for the day when Dare The Don just about held on to win from fast finishing Saturday Affair in the 1200 metres Anekal Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 45. Favourite Dare The Don measured the front running Come On Gingin inside the final furlong and shot ahead. Saturday Affair raced wide but then ducked towards the rails and the process possibly cost the five year old mare a winning chance as by the time she could get into full swing, the winning post had been sighted. Come On Gingin stayed on to finish third.

Dinesh Pujar trained Nuala swept into the lead immediately on straightening for home in the 1400 metres Itarsi Plate, a race for horses in the lowest category and quickly established a winning lead. New Sunrise made a late dash but found the front runner had gone too far away and had to settle for second spot ahead of Tandav. Favourite Act of Glory stayed in touch with the field till the top of the straight before disappearing from sight.
