Aventus swamps opposition in R M Reddy Cup

By: Tippu Sultan   February 1 , 2016

Prasad Raju trained Aventus swamped the opposition in the 2400 metres R M Reddy Memorial Cup, a Category I race, the feature event of races held at Malakpet on Monday. Aventus proved overwhelmingly superior to the rest as he swooped on the front runners in the final furlong to record a runaway win.

Mehran was fancied strongly to win the race and the five-year-old gelding trained by Laxman Singh went to the post as an on money favourite. Aventus was available at nourishing odds. Red Rambble set the pace as the field set out for the gruelling trip with Ashok Chakra in second position followed by Meheran, Brahmani and Aventus bringing up the rear. Inside the final furlong, three horses were in a line when Trevor Patel brought Aventus on the wide outside with a well-timed run. The progeny of Ace quickened brilliantly and in a trice, had the race sewn up long way from home. Meheran held off Brahmani and Ashok Chakra for the runner up berth.

Srinivas Reddy Miracle King was the firm favourite for the 1200 metres Best of Fun Plate (Div I), a race for maiden three year olds. The favourite appeared to be in a spot of bother when he did not get a good start and had some leeway to cover on the front runners. However, once he got into his rhythm, Miracle King proved that he was infinitely superior in class to the opposition as he swept past the front runners with ease to record a smashing win by a widening margin of three lengths over Big Flash. Secret Art was a tame third. The flood of money that came on Satyanarayana trained Dragonstone indicated that the progeny of Verenar was ready to oblige such an expectation. Dragonstone fought out a resolute battle with front running Ruby`s Gift and Mandy to gain the upper hand close home and record a comfortable win. Ruby`s Gift necked out Mandy to take the second place.

Faisal Hassan trained Legal Machine had made a winning appearance during the monsoon season and had not raced since then. Despite the long layoff, the progeny of Arazan was supported to the exclusion of the rest to oblige in the 1400 metres Twin Cities Cup, a Category III race. Akshay Kumar held Legal Machine in about the third position as Rose D Mumtaz did the pace setting. Legal Machine gained ascendancy over the opposition in the final furlong and recorded a facile win over Exclusive Monarchy and pace setter Rose D Mumtaz.

Favourite Iron Cross who raced in a handy third position as Carnival Express set the pace followed by the well backed Leading Legend looked the likely winner when he swiftly overtook the font running duo at the top of the straight. However, Leading Legend who took time to warm up, engaged the favourite in a stiff battle for supremacy in the final furlong and eventually got stronger to win the 1400 metres Attractress Plate (Div I), a race for three year olds. Silver Dollar was third five lengths adrift of the runner up. Preciosa attempted runaway tactics in the lower division of the race but was powerfully challenged by Magna Carta in the final furlong. The latter proved too good as he stormed away to win with ease from late finishing Ashwa Ashoka who managed to edge out the long-time leader for the second place.

K Mukesh brought Blue Eyed Babe with a well-timed run on the wide outside and the fancied runner swept past the rest to win from Vijays Victory and Junior who did all running but buckled under pressure close home.

Srinagesh trained Beauty Flash who tracked front running favourite Rocking Racer well into the straight, skipped clear inside the final 300 metres and went beyond the reach of the rest to win the 1200 metres King`s Crown Plate, a Category III race. Roma Rouge warmed up late to the task and by that time the eventual winner had gone beyond everyone`s reach. Proud Image headed Rocking Racer to claim the third place.

Lesser fancied Symbol of Pride from the stables of trainer Anupam Sharma went to the front from the start of the 1100 metres Ballerina Star Plate, a Category III race and refused to budge from there. Tricky Star made a late rally but it went in vain. Moghal Pretty impressed when finishing third.
