Time For Fun obliges in Mysore Race Club Cup

By: Tippu Sultan   October 17 , 2016

Satheesh trained Time For Fun had no problem in winning the 1400 metres Mysore Club Cup, a Category I race, the feature event of a small card of six events that were gone through on Monday at Hyderabad. With most races having one strong contender in the fray, it was inevitable that the trend would favour the ones which carried the weight of expectations. Trainer Satheesh was successful in 50 per cent of the races.

The feature event had an open look about it though Always Bullish was the favourite for the purpose of identifying the horse which was more preferred than the rest. Kohinoor Thunder led the field with Time For Fun in second position ahead of Vijay Vidhata, Always Bullish and the rest, with Galiat, another fancied runner in about the fifth or sixth position. Kohinoor Thunder weakened in the run in for home giving way to Time For Fun who then bounced clear. Vijay Vidhata went in serious pursuit of the front-runner but was founding wanting as the five-year-old was unable to find an extra gear. Galiat who had considerable leeway to cover on the front-runners finished on well but had to be satisfied with the third position as he ran out of ground in the end. Always Bullish was a timid fourth.

Satheesh`s other ward Like Wise is considered as a classic prospect for the winter season and as per the hype, got one-sided support to win the 1400 metres Scintillating Plate, a Category II race. Modern Sniper did the job of a pace-setter with Like Wise settled in the mid-group. The daughter of Dancing For Ever steadily bridged the gap approaching the final bend and by the final two furlongs, was ready to take over the running. Like Wise cruised past the front-runner and with hardly any aggressive effort on the part of jockey Pradeep Chouhan, the favourite stretched away to win by a widening margin of eight lengths to complete a hat-trick. Like Wise surely looks a healthy prospect for bigger plums. Top Contender ran on to finish second ahead of Lavender.

The third winner for Satheesh came through Patron Saint in the last race of the day, the 1200 metres Onnu Onnu Onnu Plate, a Category III race. Favourite Secret Art repeated his tantrums at the gates and was withdrawn from the fray on veterinary grounds. Patron Saint who was well backed had things under control right from the start and was clear of the rest all through the race to eventually win by a margin of four lengths. Ikigai who has been running almost week after week, rallied well in the final furlong to snatch the runner-up berth from City Colors by a whisker.

Arjun Anne trained Elysian looked a cut above the rest in the 1800 metres Classic Style Cup, a Category III race. The three-year-old colt Elysian asserted his supremacy in a comprehensive manner, having the race sewn up a long way from home. Perfection rallied well in the straight and just about managed to get the second position from Hard Fought.

Exclusive Beauty was backed spiritedly to oblige in the 1400 metres Smt C Mohana Kumari Satyanarayana Memorial Cup, a Category III race. The Satyanarayana trainee stayed ahead of the rest from the start and did not face any serious threat from the opposition as she won quite comfortably from Ice Barrier who chased the eventual winner without hope. Ice Barrier just about managed to retain the runner-up spot from Grand Canyon by a whisker.

Prasad Raju trained Sensational Girl was cut above the rest in the 1400 metres Forest Treasurer Plate, a Category III race for horses rated below 25 which meant that horses which were low in rating were in the fray. Sensational Girl surely did not belong to this category of horses as she flew in the final furlong to swamp the opposition in great style to win by a widening margin over Jem Star and Carnival Express.
