Silver Bracelet steals an easy win

By: Goldie Boy   January 13 , 2021

Trainer Vijay Singh`s filly, Silver Bracelet (Hindu Singh-up), cruised home with the 2,400m Adelita Handicap, helping her mentor with yet another treble in Wednesday`s frame of six. Jockey A. Sandesh assisted Vijay to coast home with the other two winners – Dandi Satyagrah and the recent western India migrant, Tudor Hall – both short-priced winners in their respective events – the 1,100m Burning Fire Plate and the 1,600m Exclusive Virtue Handicap.

Silver Bracelet`s task was made easier by her stable-mate, Inca (Nikhil Naidu) who was made to maneuver slow pace upfront, leaving another fancied runner, Rosina (P.S.Chauhan) in the five-horse field, to fall in the trap. The slow pace suited Silver Bracelet to the hilt as she made a rapid improvement from the third and the fourth berths to sprint away from the field, soon after turning for home.

Tudor Hall (Sandesh) was also ridden in the Silver Bracelet manner, albeit in a fast-paced race, to beat Kimaya (Neeraj Rawal) and the stable-mate, Excelsior (Hindu). The Kingda Ka mare recorded the victory without raising a sweat, with Sandesh also needing to throw cheeky glances, nearly a furlong from home. She was made to gallop at the wrong-end of the field; until approaching the final turn but coming with a good turn of foot, wide round the home turn, she was gone into the winning lead in a trice.

Equally smashing was the victory of Vijay`s Dandi Satyagrah (Sandesh) in the 1,100m Burning Desire Plate. Taking over the running from the early leader, Anne Boy (Afzal Khan) -- a little over a furlong from the start -- the Chevalier-Salt speedster, went on to give an armchair ride to his jockey.

Sandesh`s Stelvio Pass could have won the 1,100m Aeronative Handicap, as well, but the champion jockey decided against lodging an objection again Vikash Jaiswal`s heavily wagered winner, Scarlet Witch (app Rupal Singh) who had squeezed the long time leader, in the final 50m, between herself and the rails. The official verdict between the two was a mere long-neck.

Neeraj, guided trainer Manvenda Singh`s 5/2 favourite, Estrella Star to an emphatic victory in the 1,400m Icelandic Handicap. The winner was a bottled up second to Ahinka in her maiden outing and had cashed in on her form with a four-length victory over another impressive in defeat filly, Adornica (K.Sai Kiran), from Harvinder Bath`s stable. Held back sixth or seventh, early in the race, Estrella Star, also survived pushing and jostling in the crowded mid-bunch but was lucky when presented with a wide galloping room to sail through to a runaway victory.

However, Manvendra was not so lucky when his charge Mystic Star (Neeraj) went down fighting to Christopher Alford`s filly, Treasure Hunt (Nikhil Naidu) who took the rail-side route to victory. The two horses, in fact, raced almost abreast of each other till the home turn but Neeraj`s choice of a circuitous route and the burst vessel of his horse, cost him dearly as it was only a length that separated the two runners at the wire.
