By: Tippu Sultan   February 18 , 2018

Satyanarayana trained Dream Catcher maintained his winning run with another decisive victory in the 1400 metres Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Memorial Cup, a race for horses rated 75 and above, the feature event of Sunday`s Hyderabad races. Dream Catcher who has struck great form this season has proved to be a top-quality sprinter and the ease with which he has been winning is suggestive of a bagful of wins for this progeny of Green Coast in the coming seasons.

The quality of wins registered by Dream Catcher indicated that he deserved support till beaten. Despite this, he was offered at good odds because he was taking on seasoned opponents for the first time. The consistent and prolific Amorous White went on a start to finish mission while Dream Catcher was eased in about the fifth position. Dream Catcher was pushed to take the run along the rails as Amorous White had come off the rails. The progeny of Green Coast picked up great speed and by the final furlong, had the race well sewn up. Exclusive Wind finished with a flourish to edge out Amorous White to take the runner-up berth. Breezeofthesouth made a late dash to finish a close fourth.

K V Srinivas trained Far Sight recorded a thrilling win over Euro Zone in the 1600 metres Prince Pradeep Plate, a race for horses rated 42 to 62. Euro Zone led every inch of the blade barring the last one. Euro Zone was pressed strongly by Far Sight in the closing strides of the race. The bobbing of heads saw Far Sight prevail by a whisker. Bayrd was third while fancied Treasure Striker ran too poorly for comfort.

Leo D`Silva trained San Vinto has been in good form this season and the repeat win in the 1800 metres Best of Fun Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 26 to 46, was on expected lines. San Vinto produced the patented late rally to record an easy win over Golden Xanthus and Free Eagle. Faisal Hassan trained Royal Hero who had a clear passage all the way in the race, had it easy in the lower division of the race. Midway through the race Novaturient abruptly dropped back which caused a chain reaction causing those coming behind to lose position as they had to check their mounts or swerve out to prevent any possible mishap. Royal Hero who was well placed, faced no opposition and the late flourish of George Cross made no impact on the eventual winner. Silver Dollar was faraway third. Favourite Hope Is Eternal who was in the rear group, was not spotted to have any chance after Novaturient caused a chain reaction.

Donald Netto trained Titus proved to be too good in the 1200 metres Chowmahalla Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 26 to 46. Titus burst out of the pack in the final furlong and despite a strong challenge from favourite Exclusive Symbol, had enough cushion to win comfortably. Valee Bloomer was faraway third. There was inspired support for Ashka Ashka Ashka but when jockey Naresh had a fall on Gangadhar midway through the race, the horses which were immediately following behind, were all inconvenienced and Ashka Ashka Ashka was one of those affected by it. Prasad Raju trained Gladstone was widely expected to repeat in the lower division of the race and the progeny of Chinese Whisper had no problem in swamping the opposition. Money Time nosed out Lord Gift to get the runner-up berth.

Apprentice jockey Kunal Bunde drove out the fancied Reach The Heights with all the resources to his command to land the spoils in a tight finish over Cashel and Yes Baby in the 1100 metres King`s Crown Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated up to 30. Reach The Heights got the lead in the closing strides of the race even as Cashel was making a strong bid. The lower division of the race saw lesser fancied Rohini pull off a narrow win in a four-horse finish.
