Realmoffantasy lives up to the billing

By: Tippu Sultan   August 27 , 2018

Laxman Singh trained Realmoffantasy who had gone down narrowly to Punjabi Girl in the Gr 1 Fillies Championship Stakes during the Summer Season at Bangalore, made amends with a comprehensive win in the Gr 3 Fillies Championship Stakes, the first classic of the season, held on Sunday at Malakpet. The favourite had things under control when she hit the front on turning for home providing the Poonawalla Stud Farm Stallion Excellent Art with a much needed classic success.

Realmoffantasy enjoyed favouritism as Catalonia who had an excellent first season as a juvenile, had blotted her copybook during the summer season with some listless performances. Strong Storm set a decent pace with the two market leaders Realmoffantasy and Catalonia in a handy posey while the others were spaced out behind. Approaching the final bend, Suraj Narredu made his move on the favourite by bridging the gap and at the top of the straight, Realmoffantasy was ready to take charge. The progeny of Excellent Art kicked clear to go beyond the reach of her only pursuer Catalonia who ran green under pressure. Strong Arm held the third position while the other two failed to make their presence felt.

Akshay Kumar had it easy on Riddari who stretched away for a facile win. Valee Bloomer finished third more than five lengths adrift. The lower division of the race was won by Platts Tour who completed an encore at a short price. The favourite in the hands of jockey Suraj Narredu had the race sewn up long way from home. The lead built held in good stead as a host of horses charged home. Khan Sahib lasted out to win by half a length. In a tight finish, Supurinto got the second position by a whisker from Shakespeare in the final stride while favourite Own Battle was a close fourth. Akshay booted home the fourth winner of the day on Anant Vatsalya trained Ikigai who came home with a powerful run down the final furlong to win the lower division of the race in tremendous fashion by a margin of over five lengths. Good Taste held off Chinese Thought for the second place.

K V Srinivas trained Amaravathi was well fancied to win the 2000 metres Donegal Plate, a race for horses rated up to 30 and the five-year-old mare did not disappoint. Held back in the rear for most of the trip, Amaravathi found spaces in the straight and came into strong contention in the final furlong.
