Srinivas Reddy trained Classic Remark pulled it off in the 1200 metres Teegala Sulochana Reddy Memorial Cup (Div I), a race for horses rated 58 to 78, the feature event of Sunday`s races held at Hyderabad. Classic Remark had faltered on the last occasion but this time out benefitting by the five kg allowance claimed by Gaurav Singh, the speedy Classic Remark led all the way and had enough cushion to reach the safety of the winning post.
Classic Remark was well backed to make amends this time out and the progeny of Tariq who is endowed with a great deal of speed was taken on a start to finish mission by Gaurav Singh. The favourite enjoyed an uncontested lead and had a good break entering the straight which he immediately expanded to an unassailable lead. Though Tootsie Roll made a late rally, the long shot was unable to overhaul the front runner and had to settle for the second position. Dancing Leaf edged out Warrior Supreme to save place money.
The lower division of the feature event saw Southern Legacy have a bold show. Southern Legacy was well backed along with Amazing Elegance who had reeled off four wins in a row to be in the thick of things. After Asteria led the field deep into the straight, Suraj Narredu on Southern Elegance began to make his move and the favourite easily overhauled the front-runner and stretched away for a facile win over late-rallying Prince Caspian and Sea Castle. Amazing Elegance failed to show the spark of his previous wins and was not in contention well before the race came to the boil and finished a poor sixth.
Arjun Anne trained Dancing Doll looked outstanding in the 1200 metres Northern Dancer Plate, a race for horses rated 26 to 46. Suraj took Dancing Doll to the front from the word `go` and the favourite looked the winner all the way in the straight as she skipped beyond the reach of the rest in the final furlong to win the race with great deal ease from His Excellency and Natasha.
Faisal Hassan trained Ta Ta obliged expectations in the 2000 metres Bombay Sappers Plate, a race for horses 26 to 46. Carnival Express led by lengths into the straight but once Ta Ta began to make his bid in the stretch with a powerful effort, the front-runner surrendered without a fight. Ta Ta then established a winning and had enough cushion to reach the safety of the winning post when Lancashire finished with a big effort. Platinum Classz was third.
Vittal Deshmukh trained Durango had the speed and the luck of finding all the spaces to make a strong bid from the back and win the 1600 metres Nawab Mir Mushtaq Ali Memorial Cup, a race for horses rated 42 to 62. Jockey Prashant Dhebe reacted swiftly to the openings that he got in the straight and had Durango take charge with a furlong left in the race. The progeny of Sedgefield bounced clear to win easily from late rallying favourite The Special One. Vallee Tiger beat Wings of Angels to the third place.
Srinivas Reddy trained Private Empire engaged Top Saga in a bitter struggle for supremacy in the 1200 metres Capachino Plate (Div I), a race for maiden three-year-olds and managed to assert her supremacy in the closing strides of the race. British Empire was third. Favourite Royal Treat went miles wide at the bend and lost whatever chances he had. Hilton Sequeira trained Exclusive Blue managed to get the better of Rule The World close home to land the spoils as a well-backed favourite in the lower division of the race. Despite being inconvenienced in the early part of the race, Rule The World came into contention with a ground-saving run along the rails and led the field till beaten. Rule The World should make amends next time out. Astristryy was third.
Prasad Raju trained Proud Warrior was strongly backed to oblige in the 1200 metres Rock of Gibraltar Plate, a race for horses rated up to 30. Lesser fancied Patron Saint ran aggressively in front and threatened to play spoilsport but the strongly ridden Proud Warrior managed to assert his supremacy in the final 50 metres and won by a length. Dippy Dip managed to beat Recumbentibus to the third place as the latter had a difficult passage in the straight.
