Suraj Narredu wins a race at Mauritius

French was the colour. The French riders displayed their skill, winning seven out of the eight events in the Mauritus Invitational meet on Saturday. The Star was by far French rider Stéphane Pasquier who bagged a quadruple and tops the standing of the Top Stars Championship with 40 points.

In the Young Stars Championship, Indian rider Suraj Satish Narredu was the only one capable of putting an end to the French hegemony. Maxime Guyon (Power Of poseidon and Disclosed Duel) tasted a double while the other victory was landed by his fellow countryman Mickaël Barzalona (Trinidad). This Championship will be interesting to follow tomorrow.

In the first event reserved for the ‘Rising Stars’, over 1400m, Power Of Poseidon , ridden by talented Maxime Guyon finished strongly on the outside to have last say in front of Suraj Satish Narredu who was on board of Optimum Josh. Mister See (Joorawon) finished third while Piper’s Promise (Mansour) completed the quartet.

The first event reserved for the ‘Top Stars’ over 1 500m produced a scintillating finish. In the homestraight, Roman Baton (Stéphane Pasquier) flied on the outside but Olivier Peslier, on board of Sergeant Major, did just enough to hold on. However, after the Steward’s Inquiry, Sergeant Major was demoted and Roman Baton was declared the winner. Cactus Wolf (Dye) finished third and National Respect (John Patrick Murtagh) completed the quartet.

Maxime Guyon produced another masterpiece. A magical finish driving his mount, Disclosed Duel, strongly on the outside to beat the speedy Enchanter (Joorawon). Happy Al (Mansour) finished third while Kit On (Teetan). The fourth event was landed by Constellation partnered with Stéphane Pasquier. He was by far the best in the homestraight and won in front of Hero’s Hope (Olivier Peslier). Moot Call (Gujadhur) finished third in front of Golden Seal (John Patrick Murtagh).

The French recital continued in the fifth event with the triumph of Trinidad well ridden by Mikaël Barzalona. Trinidad won from start to finish. He reduced the pace of the race. Supersonic Jet (Narredu) finished second infront of Telaroyal (Joorawon). Silver Brook, ridden by Miss Hayley Turner, completed the quartet.

Rocketted favoritism in the main event, The Air Mauritius Nenuphar Cup (1400m), War Of Conquest, partnered with Stéphane Pasquier, won as expected. Lanfranco Dettori placed Burberry in second spot in front of Hold My Jacket, ridden by Ahmad Ajtebi.

Bourne Supreme (Suraj Satish Narredu) at 8/1 won the penultimate race.In the last race on the card, Stéphane Pasquier produced another piece of magic on Just Banter who has been unlucky this season.
