De VilliersTrainer Mr. S.S. Attaollahi and Jockey P. Trevor were questioned regarding the poor performance of DE VILLIERS. The Jockey stated that he was asked to ride his own race and do his best in the straight. However, his mount stopped galloping in the last 250 Metres of the race and he also thought that his mount may have burst its blood vessels. The trainer stated that his charge was running after a very long layoff, carrying top weight in the above class for the first time and he could not attribute any other specific reason for its poor performance. Their explanations were noted for future reference and the horse was impounded for veterinary examination but no abnormality was reported.
