Bobby trained eight-year-old Sadeek brought off an upset in the 1400 metres Stewards Trophy, a race for horses rated 60 to 85, the feature event of Thursday’s Mysore races. James McKeown-trained Trevalius announced his arrival on the classic scene with a performance that was suggestive of the immense potential that the progeny of Multidimensional possesses.

Rajesh Narredu trained Forever Together was widely reckoned to have the best credentials to land the spoils but the favourite flopped miserably. Apprentice jockey Saqlain had Forever Together lead from the start and went slightly wide at the final bend which allowed Sadeek who was chasing the front-runner a run along the rails. The veteran shot through the opening and stretched away for a facile win. Capable who was at the wrong end of the field ran on from behind to save place money.

Amazonia who had relocated from Kolkata after winning in March was running after a longish break of 169 days in the 1200 metres B A Nanaiah Memorial Trophy, a race for horses rated 40 to 65. Michael Eshwer trained Rhythmic was the favourite. Apprentice jockey Arul who is otherwise a capable jockey, gave a strange sort of ride, missing the kick and not showing the enterprise needed to win the race. The odds drifted out on the favourite close to race time and this was reflected in the performance of the horse as well. Amazonia had no problem in slamming the opposition finishing more than three lengths ahead of Lord Command and Country’s Flash.

Magic Circle was a strong favourite along with Mark One to win the 1200 metres M P Appayya Memorial Trophy, a race for horses rated 40 to 65. Neil Devaney trained Perfect Rendition in the hands of apprentice jockey Hasib Alam came up with a late rally to get the better of Magic Circle who had stolen a march along the rails. Smart Cadillac was third while Mark One was never in the hunt.

Vijaya Miracle who had gone down narrowly to stablemate in his last outing made amends in the 1100 metres Indradhanush Plate, a race for horses in the lowest category. Vijaya Miracle produced a strong run in the final furlong to win the race from Raptor and Gold Charm. Gold Charm who was strongly backed to win, missed the kick, was unwisely brushed up too soon and headed the field into the straight only to lose steam.

James McKeown-trained Trevalius was quoted at unbackable odds as the progeny of Multidimensional had an imposing reputation having run behind two horses, one of whom had gone on to win the Deccan Colts Championship Stakes. Jockey Sandesh kept Trevalius in the rear before steadily moving up in the stretch. Trevalius showed that he was vastly superior to the opposition when leaving the field stranded in the final furlong to win by a widening margin of five lengths. Twilight Tornado finished second best ahead of Mystic Mountain. Vishal Yadav trained Antinori easily overhauled strong favourite Born King in the closing stages of the race to win the lower division of the race. Antinori was well backed to beat the Bangalore challenger.

Bangalore-based horses Bramastram and Southern Power dominated the market in the 1400 metres Haveri Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 45. True to expectations, these two horses fought out the issue, with Bramastram staving off the bid of Southern Power. Dr Logan who led form the start, stayed on to take the third position.
