1	(207)	THE JONTY RHODES TROPHY (DIV-II) A Handicap for Horses rated 20 TO 46 - (5 YEARS OLD & UPWARD)	1200M

Refuse To Bend	Relying on a report from the Sr. VO that Trainer Anil Kumar had accepted with his charge REFUSE TO BEND while the horse was on a veterinary ban, the horse was not permitted to race and Trainer has been fined Rs.5000/ for his lapse.
Clas	Near 400 meters, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (CLAS) was observed to have used his whip with his left hand whereby his mount shifted inwards and then he had guided his mount with his right rein without paying any heed to the inside horse, MONARCHOS (F Irani). Jockey Neeraj Rawal was reported to the Stewards for Careless Riding. The Stewards interviewed the Jockey and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount. Therefore, the Stewards decided that, should Jockey Neeraj Rawal apply for a Jockey’s License for the Racing Season 2009/ 2010, it will be granted to him but it will remain suspended w.e.f. 16th July 2009 to 24th July 2009 (both days inclusive). (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race).
Monarchos(O)	Jockey F Irani (MONARCHOS) reported that the saddle on his mount slipped sideways towards the left during the race. This being Trainer Mansoor Shah’s third offence with regard to saddle slip during the current Mumbai Meeting, the matter was reported to the Stewards. The Stewards interviewed Trainer Mansoor Shah in the above connection and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to fine him a sum of Rs.5,000/. Trainer Mansoor Shah and Jockey F.Irani were questioned regarding the running and riding of MONARCHOS in this race.Jockey F.Irani stated that he was instructed to ride his own race. He added that the horse was travelling well till straightening for home when he felt that the saddle had slipped to the left side and therefore he was trying to balance himself. Trainer Mansoor Shah stated the horse had broken a blood vessel during the last Mumbai Meeting 2007/08 and thereafter the horse met with a mishap during the Pune Meeting 2008 and hence he could not race him in Pune and this was the first run of the horse during the current Mumbai Meeting, however, he had given the horse an each way chance. The Stewards having deliberated on the matter and having viewed the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Amyn Merchant in the subject matter and felt that although his saddle had slipped slightly during the race, however, there was no justification in the manner he rode this horse and he had ridden a most incompetent race. Taking an overall view the Stewards decided to give him the benefit of the doubt in this case. However, Jockey F.Irani was informed by the Stewards that such riding cannot be accepted in Western India, therefore the Stewards would review the grant of a Jockey’s license to him to ride in Western India for the future.
Solskjaer	Jockey R Parvesh (SOLSKJAER) reported that his mount suddenly dropped back near 800 meters and then did not gallop. Trainer Amjad Khan said that he had fancied the horse and he accepted that the horse had run below his expectations. He said that today the weather was humid and hot and this being the first race of the day, it may have effected the horse’s performance and he had no other explanation for the poor performance of his charge. The explanation was noted and Trainer Amjad Khan was informed that this enquiry was being kept open and a watch would be kept on the future running of this horse.
Firey Future	The Sr.V.O. reported that FIREY FUTURE was observed after the race to have a wolf tooth on the left side of its mouth.
Return Of The King	After the race, RETURN OF THE KING was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

Walking Tall

Trainer Nirad Karanjawala was questioned with regard to the running pattern of WALKING TALL in this race as compared to the earlier runs during this Mumbai Meeting. He stated that the horse has lost its speed and cannot keep pace with the other horses so he wanted to race the horse with some cover and did not want him to go to the front for its runs during this Meeting. Commenting on today’s race, he opined that Jockey Nirmal Jodha should not have gone to the front and cut pace with MISTER FIXIT but should have let MISTER FIXIT make the run and he could have sat 2nd. He said that he had put on Blinkers for this run. He added that he had removed all equipment as suggested by his Work Rider but since it did not improve the horse, he reverted to the use of Blinkers which possibly had suited the horse and he was keen. The explanation was noted.

Stud Of Gold

Trainer S.Mangalorkar was questioned with regard to the poor performance of STUD OF GOLD (P.S.Chouhan). Trainer S.Mangalorkar stated that the instructions to the Jockey were to hit the front, if not then to be in 2nd or 3rd. He further added that the horse is blind folded till the end and he had asked the Jockey to be careful because the horse tries to rear up as soon as the blinds are off. Tr.S.Mangalorkar was specifically asked with regard to the jump out. He added that the horse had jumped out sluggishly towards the outside. He was informed that there was a drift in the odds on this horse and the Stipendiary Stewards will enquire further in the matter..

3	(209)	THE BAYER TROPHY A Handicap for Horses rated 80 & ABOVE	1400M

Czar Alexander	After the race, CZAR ALEXANDER was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
Lago Medio	Jockey S Shiva Kumar (LAGO MEDIO) reported loss of whip near 300 metees. Since this was the first occasion and the horse was out of contention, no action has been initiated against the Jockey beyond advising him with regard to loss of whip.

4	(210)	THE MERCEDES BENZ TROPHY TERMS - 3 year old maidens only	1000M

Trigance	Under pressure, TRIGANCE (M Narredu) was inclined to lugin. Trainer Vinayak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly. Near 400 metres, TRIGANCE was denied a clear run for a few strides.
Perpetuation	Near 600 metres, PERPETUATION (TS Jodha) ducked out and forced IJLAL (PS Chouhan) to shift out and was steadied.
Black Falcon	Soon after the start, BLACK FALCON (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in and went across IJLAL (P.S.Chouhan) causing its Rider to take evasive action.

Princess Ruby	After the race, PRINCESS RUBY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
Major Wager	Near 750 metres, MAJOR WAGER (R.Shelar) was tightened for room while racing on the inside of RECARDO (Neeraj Rawal) who itself was tightened when DANCING GLORY (Y.S.Srinath) shifted ground due to the bend. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.

Courage Under Fire	Jockey C.S. Jodha (COURAGE UNDER FIRE) has been fined Rs.1000/ for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
Kuhaylan	Relying on a report from the Sr. VO that Trainer Altaf Hussain had declared incorrect shoeing for his charge MYSTERIOUS HEIGHTS, the Trainer has been fined Rs.2000/. The horse was declared with Aluminium, BFHH plates whereas on examination he was found to have Aluminium, BHHH plates.
Blazing Beauty	At the start, LAST NIGHTS SONNET (A.M.Tograllu, dr.8) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and made contact with COSTANTIA (App Shrikant Kamble, dr.9). Near 200 metres, LAST NIGHTS SONNET (A.M.Tograllu) shifted out and carried FIAMMA (V Chandrakant) outwards and tightened him for room, with SUNBURST (App S Zervan) being on its outside. Jockey A.M. Tograllu has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Fiamma	FIAMMA (V Chandrakant) hung out under pressure. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Classic Spirit	After the race, CLASSIC SPIRIT was found to have wolf tooth on both the sides of the mouth and a gum injury and TEHRANI had a wolf tooth on both the sides of the both.
Tehrani	Near 600 metres, TEHRANI (App Shammi Khan) dropped back and in process hampered the running of LAST NIGHTS SONNET (A.M. Tograllu). Near 400 metres, TEHRANI (App Shammi Khan) shifted out and forced THE FIRST LADY (S Shiva Kumar) to travel wide. Apprentice Shammi Khan has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

7	(213)	THE HDFC ERGO TROPHY TERMS - 3 year old maidens only	1200M

Adriana

Passing 400 metres, ADRIANA (Neeraj Rawal) ducked in and tightened NUMISMATIST (Imran Chisty) for room who was checked and dropped back. Thereafter ADRIANA ran erratic. The Sr. VO was requested to examine the filly, who reported that the filly the filly was sound but she had wolf tooth on both the sides of her mouth.

8	(214)	THE BYRAMJEE JEEJEEBHOY ECLIPSE STAKES OF INDIA (GR. 2) TERMS - 4 YEARS OLD & UPWARD	2000M

Spinoza (O)	Near 300 metres, SPINOZA (Malcolm Kharadi) was held up for a clear run and was steadied when COTSWOLD ARMS (Neeraj Rawal) changed course inwards. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount. SPINOZA (Malcolm Kharadi) was placed fifth and MASEEHA (A.M.Tograllu) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.
Hugo	After the race, HUGO was observed to have coughed during examination.

9	(215)	THE PANALPINA CUP A Handicap for Horses rated 0 TO 26	1400M

Hi Dolly	The Stewards interviewed Jockey Neeraj Rawal in the above connection and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, held him guilty of Careless Riding on his mount HI DOLLY. The Stewards noted that his Jockey’s License, if granted for the Racing Season 2009/ 2010, will remain suspended w.e.f. 16th July to 24 July 2009 for an earlier offence. Therefore, the Stewards decided that his Jockey’s License will further remain suspended w.e.f. 25th July 2009 to 15th August 2009 (both days inclusive) for careless riding on HI DOLLY. (Permitted to ride work/mock race).
Midnight Club	The Saddle on MIDNIGHT CLUB (App NS Parmar) slipped back during the race. Trainer Nina M Lalvani has been fined Rs.2000/ for faulty saddling of her charge. After the race, MIDNIGHT CLUB was observed to have an abrasion on the left hind fetlock and shank and also on the right hind fetlock. Two objections were lodged in this race. The first one was lodged by Jockey S Shiva Kumar (STEP BY STEP) Placed 4th by the Judge against MIDNIGHT CLUB, (App.N.S.Parmar) placed 3rd by the Judge for coming on to him sharply in the last 100 meters and bumping him which unsettled his horse and he lost his balance which cost him a certain Place, the verdict being Shorthead & Neck. The second Objection was lodged by Mrs. Nina M Lalvani, Trainer of MIDNIGHT CLUB, placed 3rd by the Judge against HI DOLLY (Neeraj Rawal, Placed first), for coming on to her horse in the 100 meters which cost the horse the Second Place. The Stewards heard the submissions made by all concerned in conjunction with that the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their observation of the incident, decided to overrule both the Objections.
Unstoppable(O)	BRAVE GUN (T.Atul) was reluctant to be stalled. START ME UP (S.K.Jadhav) played up in the stall due to which its Rider was dislodged and was injured and hence unable to ride. As such, BRAVE GUN was withdrawn before coming under the Starters’ Order.Trainers, HJ Antia & Altaf Hussain, have been asked to give their respective charges more Gate practice and to show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.
