The Stewards interviewed Trainer Magansingh P Jodha and Jockey P Belose and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey P.Belose and held him guilty of riding an incompetent race. Flames Of FireThe Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer H.J.Antia in the above connection. He stated that FLAMES OF FIRE likes to run in the front, however, in Race No.28 on 23rd July, 2010 NEFYN and SMOKIN ACES hit the front and cut pace with each other thereby setting an extremely fast pace whereby his horse did not get the chance to go to the front. Therefore, FLAMES OF FIRE was settled in third place all the way and he finished fifth, but he was only three lengths behind the second placed horse, SILVER SANDS. He said that in Race No. 77, his horse was able to hit the front and set his own pace and he finished a close second. Further, in Race No.28 it was the first run of the gelding during the current Pune Meeting. Also, the field in Race No.77 was poor as compared to Race No.28 and therefore his horse managed to finish second this time. Considering that the pattern of running of the horse was same and the horse was at longer odds in both the races, the explanation tendered by Trainer H.J.Antia has been noted. The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 28th August, 2010 considered the above report and having viewed the video recording of both the races, decided that no action was called for in the matter.
