02-Nov-2019: Trainer Vijay Singh’s 6/1 shot, Jacobin (app. R.S. Bhati-up) , scored a decisive victory in the 1,400m Bullet Cup on Saturday, the feature event in the season’s opener. The afternoon was otherwise ruled by jockey Hindu Singh who, not only aided Vijay to saddle a treble but also assisted schooler James McKeown with a brace of wins. Hindu’s ended the day with a quadruple of wins, his first and quite a creditable achievement.

Shafiq Khan rules the day with quadruple of wins

Punters go berserk on Multitude`s day
16-Nov-2019: Calcutta: Trainer Vijay Singh`s in-form horse, Multitude (Hindu Singh-up), won yet another race, the 1,400m Mayfowl Cup on Saturday but half-an-hour later the hell broke out, thanks to a disputed close finish in the following race-event, the 1,400m Golden Celebration Handicap. The afternoon also witnessed Hindu Singh doing well in the saddle, with a treble, as apprentice R.S. Bhati and trainers Vijay Singh and Arti Doctor also scored a brace of wins apiece.

Izzy stamps her authority on Abira in 1000 Guineas
23-Nov-2019: The Western Aristocrat daughter, Izzy (Suraj Narredu-up) scored an authoritative victory over the South India challenger, Abira (David Allan-up), on her way to claiming Saturday` chief attraction, the 1,600m Calcutta 1,000 Guineas. As expected, the Aashay Doctor-trained filly, also exposed the visiting challenger ‘s limitations in the winter Classics as there was no hard luck story in the race.

Shivalik Shower downs Shivansh in main event
30-Nov-2019: The course favourite’s, Shivansh’s, somewhat rusty performance proved a bit too costly for the followers of favourites, as trainer James McKeown’s eight-year-old ward, Shivalik Showers, adopted pillar-to-post tactics and lasted out to win the 1,600m Delhi Race Club Ltd. Cup, the star attraction in Saturday’s seven-event card. The afternoon, in fact, witnessed the fall of a good number of favourites, leaving trainer Bharath Singh and his retained jockey Dashrath Singh among, two long priced, winners.

Tenno Sho clinches 2000G in camera finish
07-Dec-2019: The visiting South India challenger, Tenno Show (Trevor Patel-up) took a narrow measure of the local challenger, Jaivant (Suraj Narredu) in the 1,600m Calcutta 2000 Guineas, the second Classic of the season, and the major attraction in Saturday’s eight-event card. Neil Darashah saddled the winner -- the trainer first Classic win in the RCTC. The race, however, had become a two-horse affair after an unruly hot favourite, Trafalgar (David Allan) refused to be loaded and was declared a non-starter.

Imran Chisty in limelight on Hartnell’s day
12-Dec-2019: Hartnell, the fittest horse in the field of six runners, scored an emphatic victory in the 2,000m Maharajadhiraja Uday Chand Metab of Burdwan Memorial Cup, the feature event in Thursday’s card. Held back in the mid-division till the top of the home turn, jockey B. Mahesh let the top-weighted runner, from trainer Jasbir Singh’s stable, to go into the lead and the race was over bar shouting. The afternoon also witnessed jockey Imran Chisty was also in the limelight, having scored a rich treble in the seven-event competitive card.

Rosina has it easy in the Oaks
21-Dec-2019: Trainer Bharath Singh’s well-bred filly, Rosina (Y.S. Srinath-up) scored a decisive victory in the 2,400m Calcutta Oaks, the Ladies’ Derby, on Saturday. Rosina was, somewhat lucky, too, because of the last-minute withdrawal of an unruly southern challenger, Roll Call, and due to Izzy’s, the course favourite’s lack of stamina to last the Derby trip. Star Superior escaped to victory in the other feature of the day.

Black Pearl romps home with Produce Stakes
01-Jan-2020: Trainer Vijay Singh’s brilliant galloper, Black Pearl, gave his jockey, Suraj Narredu, yet another joy ride on his way to winning the 1,200m Indian Produce stakes, the star attraction in the New Year’s Day card. The 2,200m RCTC Gold Vase, on the other hand, provided an exciting finish but trainer Javed Khan’s 13/10 favourite Arrowfield (Imran Chisty) managed to deliver the goods.

Perpetual Winning gets verdict in Stewards’ room
11-Jan-2020: Trainer Javed Khan’s horse Perpetual Winning (Imran Chisty-up) won the 1,200m Madras Race Club Cup, Saturday’s feature event, in the stewards’ room. It was thanks the Vijay Singh’s favourite, Lesrel (Hindu Singh) interfering with Shafiq Khan’s runner, Brainstorm (Dhanu Deora), in the final stages of the race, resulting the third placed aggrieved horse, objecting against the original winner, Lesrel, for the benefit of Perpetual Winning’s default victory.

Trafalgar keeps date with Calcutta Derby
12-Jan-2020: Trafalgar, the 9/10 favourite, kept his date with the Calcutta Derby Stakes on Sunday. Trained by James McKeown, the Western Aristocrat son was partnered the public choice to victory by none other than the course specialist, David Allan. In the process of his victory, Trafalgar also achieved the rare feat of winning the winter Derby, having already claimed RCTC’s monsoon edition of the prized event.

Suraj rode a copy-book race on the 9/10 hot favourite, by Multidimensional out of Haedi, who took an easy measure of his stable-mate, Lesrel (Dashrath Singh) inside the final 150m of the race.

08-Feb-2020: Trainer Arjun Mangalorkar’s ward, Point TO Point (A. Sandesh-up) had an easy measure of his five rivals on his way to winning the 2,800m Queen Elizabeth II Cup, Saturday’s feature event. The 5/2 joint-favourite with trainer Vijay Singh’s runner, Shivansh (Suraj Narredu) who was likely to give a strong fight to Point To Point but the contest never reached to the expected lines. Suraj, however, guided Vijay’s other two favourites – Jaivant and Black Pearl – to victory in their respective events the 2,400m Malaysia Cup and the cash-rich 1,600m Calcutta Million.
