Psychic Force wins on sheer class
05-Dec-2020: Bangalore import Psychic Force, now in the care of trainer Aashay Doctor overcame the sharpness of trip on sheer class and made a winning debut on the Kolkata race track staving off the late bid of New England to win the 1400 metres Mayfowl Cup, a terms race for four-year-olds and over which featured the races held on Saturday. Trainer Vijay Singh continued his domination saddling a treble with jockey Hindu Singh being associated with all these wins.

Violin has it easy in the 1000 Guineas
12-Dec-2020: The Southern challenger, Violin, lived up to her enterprising trainer Neil Darashah’s ambitious plans when the Phoenix Tower-Nojoom daughter notched up the targeted Classic, the 1,600m Calcutta 1,000 Guineas on Saturday. Jockey Y.S. Srinath gave the 4/1 shot a gem of a ride to beat the local darling and the Vijay Singh-trained Silver Bracelet (Suraj Narredu) -- a hot-favourite and unbeaten in her career’s four starts.

13-Jan-2021: Trainer Vijay Singh’s filly, Silver Bracelet (Hindu Singh-up), cruised home with the 2,400m Adelita Handicap, helping her mentor with yet another treble in Wednesday’s frame of six. Jockey A. Sandesh assisted Vijay to coast home with the other two winners – Dandi Satyagrah and the recent western India migrant, Tudor Hall – both short-priced winners in their respective events – the 1,100m Burning Fire Plate and the 1,600m Exclusive Virtue Handicap.

Black Pearl wins a hollow Derby
17-Jan-2021: Vijay Singh trained Black Pearl won the Gr 1 Calcutta Derby as expected but the tragic turn of events which saw two of the four participants coming a cropper robbed the race of its glory. Zoya (Trevor Patel up) went down passing the 1000 metres marker and in the chain reaction, Srinath on Apsara Star too had a fall, leaving the race at the mercy of Black Pearl who just had to take care of stablemate Cliffhanger.

Awesome One scores a narrow win

03-Apr-2021: Trainer Vikash Jaiswal’s friendless runner, New England (Vinay Jaiswal-up), served a big jolt in the 1,200m The Metropolitan, Saturday’s prime attraction in the seven-event card. The aging runner trailed the field but displayed plenty of acceleration in the home run to take the front-runners by a complete surprise. An hour earlier, Vinay had also guided trainer Bharath Singh`s prime favourite, Agnostic, to a facile victory, the horse’s back-to-back.
