Tina`s Triumph rewarded for consistency

By: Sridhama   July 12 , 2010

Consistent Tina`s Triumph from trainer Booby`s yard won the Indraprastha Cup (Div I), a race for horses rated 60 and above, that featured Monday`s races quite capably. Tina`s Triumph has almost always hit the board and as such, he has earned his corn bill each time he is seen on the track. Race goers went home happy as four favorites and two well backed horses came through in the card of seven events.

Perfect Bond garnered the maximum support though his last run was below par. Perfect Bond raced in the second position and held sway till the final furlong but Tina`s Triumph`s powerful run ended his hopes. Top-weighted Dare Don made a late rally to snatch the second spot from Perfect Bond. Nermai failed to quicken after being prominent and ended up a tame fourth.

With the benefit of a run in the lower class, Here Come The Don was backed with conviction to oblige and he did so readily with a late surge in the lower division of the Indraprastha Cup. . Red Dawn seized the initiative in the final furlong and shaped to win as he shook of Skyfleet but was floored by the finishing burst of Here Comes The Don who flashed home on the wide outside under the driving finish of jockey Stephane Ladjad.

Lyra finally obliged as Awesome Fighter faltered in the Itarsi Plate (Div I). Awesome Fighter was bidding for a hat-trick and was backed with conviction. He failed to hit the front as is his wont and struggled thereafter to keep pace and he was a lost cause even before the race came on the boil. Lyra who had lost to Awesome Fighter last time out made amends, winning at nourishing odds. Hakuna Matata was second.

With the benefit of a forward run Collateral who had found Yankee Lane too good in his last essay scored an easy win in the lower division of the race. Favourite Swiss Queen made a valiant effort to catch up with the front runner but was a well beaten second. Master Yoda, who finished fourth, appears to be bouncing back.

Miss Ruby, who had decimated the opposition in her last essay, maintained her stranglehold to win end to end from Elemento Style who was fancied strongly to upset the favourite. Good Speed was a noteworthy second

In a tight finish Masurathi nosed out Chakravyuha Bhedak. Masurathi had to cover some leeway on the front runner who appeared to be coasting to victory but jockey Chandrasekhar drove out the favourite to earn the verdict in the final stride of the race.

Actor who had failed to oblige after drifting out last time, was tested in the mock race to check whether the corrective measures had worked or not. But he continued with his wayward ways and ran all over the course in the straight. He ran out and when the jockey attempted to correct the drift, he swung in violently and in fact hampered the front running Stellar Star. Melvyn objected against Merchant, the jockey of winning her for interference but the objection was overruled. It must have been pretty close call for the winner.
