Leading trainer Zareer Darashah maintained his supremacy by saddling a brace of winners on Wednesday through the well backed Easy Rider and Akshan who was universally considered unbeatable. Ashkan was quoted at cramped odds and the Darashah trainee readily obliged the optimism of the race goers with a facile win.

After shedding his maiden status in style earlier in the season, Ashkan had it easy in the Nairn Cup (Div I) which was the highlight of the day`s races. The Bee`s Prospector- Persian Delight three-year old gelding fully justified the one sided support, by slamming the opposition, winning in effortless fashion. Settled in a handy second position behind Al Qamar, Ashkan skipped away from the field when reminded of the task in the final furlong. He won by a widening margin of four lengths. Demanding showed some resolve when finishing second.

The lower division of the race was won by Awesome Fighter at nourishing odds. A very consistent performer, Awesome Fighter who likes to run upfront, was held back this time. The steady rain had resulted in soft underfoot conditions. Approaching the final two furlongs, he found a nice opening along the rails and he was quick to seize the opportunity and came into strong contention. After a keen tussle with Rain God, Awesome Fighter showed enough determination to win the battle close home.

Despite drifting out under pressure, Time To Celebrate finished on strongly to win the Sathyamangala Plate, a race for horses rated 60 and above. It looked as though there would be a battle royal between War Head and Time To Celebrate but the latter finished powerfully in the final 100 metres to win with ease.

Toofan Mail maintained his winning ways. Backed with conviction, Toofan mail was confidentially ridden by apprentice Madhu Babu. .Though Penny Tweedy tried to make a race of it, she could not sustain her brilliance as Toofan Mail showed greater thrust and acceleration. Time Is Precious showed some improvement when finishing third.

I Wanna Fly recorded an encore, winning the upper division of the Crystal Man Plate. I Wanna Fly had to wage a stiff battle with Black Cat before jockey Chandrasekhar drove out the well fancied runner to a narrow win.

The lower division of the race was won by Easy Rider. Easy Rider was unlucky to have lost last time out as the jockey was incapacitated when the horse was in sight of victory. This time out, Easy Rider got the better of Bridge Too Far whose wayward run enabled the former to land the spoils.

Despite a tardy start, Berkley Square improved steadily and finished strongly to win in a three horse finish. Roanoke started as a favourite but there was inspired support for Cruise Control towards the end. Roanoke, who led from the 300 meter marker, was challenged by Cruise Control who came from behind with a spirited run. Berkley Square also came up with a late rally and he managed to win in poor visibility.
