Vivek Jain elected as Chairman of RWITC

Vivek Jain was unanimously elected as Chairman of RWITC at the first meeting of the newly managing committee held on Thursday. Earlier, all the eight sitting members who sought re-election were successful, with Gautam Lala being the new man in. Geoffrey Nagpal failed to earn a slot in the managing committee by a narrow margin. Dr Cyrus Poonawalla who was the Chairman of the club for the last three years did not contest the election this time.

The voting to install a new nine-member managing committee and two members of the Board of Appeal went on expected lines.

Vivek Jain, as expected polled the highest number of votes from among the 1068 valid votes that were cast. Jaydev Mody came in second followed Champaklal Zaveri and Shyam Ruia, who received in excess of 700 votes each. Dady Adenwalla and Byram Jeejeebhoy were re-elected as Board of Appeal members.
As for the Stewards of the Club body, Shashi Chand Jain, Jaydev Mody and Mohan Thakur have opted not to act as Stewards. Contrary to all expectations Shivlal Daga was elected as the chairman of the Stewards of the Club. Rustom Vakil has been co-opted as the seventh Steward of the Club by the six-member body. It is learnt that there will be a different set of Stewards of the Club for the Pune season.

Congrats to Mr Vivek Jain on becoming RWITC Chairman,He is the most noncontroversial member,who has untiringly worked for the upliftmentof the sport.
