In view of the above incident, a Stewards enquiry was initiated at the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards. The Stewards having viewed the video recording of the incident from all angles and after hearing the submissions made by the Starter, Jockey, in conjunction with the Stipendiary Stewards and acting on their own observation of the start decided to declare HAGIBIS a nonstarter and all bets placed on HAGIBIS were ordered to be refunded. However, in view of the behavior of the gelding, Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. |
